Great Day of Service Rhode Island

March 12, 2012

Dear Friends:

It is with regret and yet a sense of accomplishment that Beyond Our Walls [BOW], at their Annual Meeting held on January 28, 2012, voted to dissolve the organization.

For seven years, many individuals helped to fulfill the mission of serving the community through an active volunteer program and working with others outside of their own community to improve life for the less fortunate. Our trademark events, the annual Great Day of Service held each year on Columbus Day and Project HOPE, bringing awareness to high school students of the plights of homelessness and hunger, were two platforms where we were able to highlight our mission.

Thank you to the individuals who volunteered their time, some year after year. Without you we could not have reached out to the many organizations that we assisted over the years. We thank the non-profit agencies that allowed us to serve them while learning about them, offering us the opportunity to meet and work with wonderful people we otherwise would never have encountered.

We take the liberty of speaking for all of us who have served on the board and others who have been right beside us from the start: thank you for trusting in us and allowing us this wonderful experience.

We hope you will continue to make the time to volunteer, maybe with a connection you made through BOW. If you are looking for some guidance, we recommend you check out Serve Rhode Island located at 655 Broad Street, Providence, RI 02907 401.331.2298 or www.serverhodeisland.org for opportunities.
